Parvo

Canine parvovirus is a severe viral infection which causes depression and a sudden onset of profuse smelly bloody diarrhoea, vomiting and fever. This can lead to severe dehydration and death.

If your puppy or young dog shows any of these symptoms – go to the vet immediately (EMERGENCY VETS).  Do not enter a clinic with your pet (go in by yourself) unless you are instructed to do so.  Parvo is extremely contagious!

Your dog could get parvo not just from other parvo dogs, but also from contaminated soil, surfaces, shoes, even clothes. Parvovirus does not die even when exposed to severe weather, and most disinfectants don’t kill it either.

After being exposed and infected, dogs can start showing signs of parvo anywhere from six to ten days after exposure.  Vaccinating your dog is the best way to help prevent canine parvovirus infection.  Vaccination Resources
